Coral Reality

In this work the inner box resembles the expectation of the ocean: colorful coral, lively ecosystem, beautiful and untouched. However, outside of the box highlights the reality: trash floating about, dead coral, sick fish, and an ultimately dying ecosystem. The mantis shrimp displayed in this work bring attention to the colorful expectation versus the reality, while also showcasing just how powerful animals are – being known as one of the strongest animals on earth – to highlight the power humans have over the ecosystem that they abuse while still expecting beauty. This work is a commentary on the pollution in the environment by those who have the power to fix it.
