This work is a self portrait, utilizing various textures to create shading. To personalize this work, collage was added to showcase the meaning of the rest of the artist’s works, through his interests and what makes up his creative intent. The praying mantis drawn in the background takes the place of his close friend (who is in this position in the reference photo) to display the artist’s closeness to his muses – various creatures. This concept is also captured through the various bugs drawn onto his face and neck, furthering the idea that the artist is very close with his interests and artistic concepts, and takes them as a piece of himself.

Asher Pierga – All of Asher’s art pieces utilize metaphor and symbolism to convey a theme within his works. Fascinated by creatures, such as bugs, fish, or birds, Asher’s works use these concepts to create astounding works that resemble not only his interests, but even environmental connections with the center of each piece. Every work is well thought out with hidden meanings and interpretations, all to create a centralized topic that his work was created under.
